TOPEKA, Kan. – The No. 21-ranked Washburn Ichabod softball team scored all nine runs in two innings as the Ichabods wrapped up the weekend with a 9-1 win over Quincy on day three of the ESU Classic hosted by Washburn. In the second, the Ichabods (11-3) broke up a scoreless game after back to back walks drawn by
Jaden LaBarge and
Paige Robbins and after a sac bunt from
Autymn Schreiner,
Kaylee Wagner reached on a fielder's choice scoring LaBarge.
Hailey Neira singled through the right side driving in Robbins and then
Gracie Gallagher scored as a pinch runner on a sac fly by
Ellington Hogle.
Hadley Kerschen singled up the middle to score Neira as Washburn took a 4-0 lead over Quincy.
After a scoreless third and fourth, Washburn closed out the game with five runs on five hits in the bottom of the third forcing a 9-1 run-rule victory over Quincy (1-5).
Marrit Mead singled up the middle and after stealing second, Mead scored on a bunt by Schreiner.
Erin Boles singled driving in Robbins and then
Danielle Schlader drew a bases loaded walk scoring Schreiner.
Jaycee Ginter singled driving in
Kimi Patterson who walked. Washburn wrapped up the scoring and the game with an RBI single by Mead sending Boles home and the Ichabods to the win.
Mead had three hits and Neira finished with two leading the Ichabod 10-hit attack. Ginter picked up the win improving to 9-1 in the circle striking out six allowing the one earned run.
