TOPEKA, Kan. -- No. 15 Washburn men's tennis (7-1, 1-0) secured its fourth straight victory Tuesday afternoon with a 5-2 win over McPherson College (2-2) in the Ichabods' first time at the Washburn Tennis Complex for the season.  
Doubles competition went in order beginning with a 6-4 win on court No. 1 for Tim Hammes and Santiago Rendon, keeping the duo undefeated on the season. Yoshinobu Nakatsuji and Daniel Bird also stayed unbeaten together with a 7-5 No. 2 win. Moritz Pieper and Daniel Harkin fell at No. 3 after the doubles point was decided and the Bulldogs were able to prevent a sweep.  
Singles play began with Rendon picking up a quick win at No. 2 by scores of 6-2 and 6-0. Hammes followed closely behind at No. 1, winning in two sets, 6-1 and 6-4. Daniel Bird had a long battle at No. 3, but was able to pull out a 7-6(3) win in the first set and rolled from there, winning 6-1 in the second to clinch the match for Washburn.  
Miquel Perez slotted in at No. 4 and fell in two sets, 6-4, 6-1, giving McPherson its first point. Daniel Harkin split the first two sets at No. 5, winning 6-2 then dropping the second 4-6. He won the tiebreaker in the third 1-0(6) to take the match. Moritz Pieper rounded up the day at No. 6, dropping a two-set match 6-2 and 6-4.
