TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod softball team added two more awards on Tuesday as juniors Jaycee Ginter and Marrit Mead were both named to the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Softball Academic All-District team. Both players will now advance on to the All-America ballot with the winners being announced June 7.
 
Ginter picked up her second all-region honor for the 2023 season as she was named a second-team D2CCA all-region selection as voted on by members of the College Sports Communicators earlier today. Last week, Ginter was tabbed as a second team all-region selection by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. This past season Ginter also earned first-team all-MIAA honors in the circle after earning first-team all-MIAA honors as a freshman and sophomore as a pitcher/utility player. She led the MIAA in victories with 24 and finished second in the league with a 1.72 ERA. She tallied 243 strikeouts which led the MIAA as did her games started (27), complete games (19) and innings pitched (208.0). As a batter she led the Ichabods with 41 RBI and seven home runs batting .303 starting all 53 games and was selected as a member of the MIAA Gold Glove Team with no errors in the field as a pitcher. Ginter was also a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and a member of the MIAA Scholar Athlete Team.
 
Mead was a second-team all-MIAA selection in 2023 and was a member of the MIAA Gold Glove team finishing fourth in the MIAA in hitting with a .385 batting average and her 67 hits is second this season starting all 53 games at third base. She finished a perfect 27 of 27 in stolen base attempts and she was second in the MIAA in runs scored with 50, seventh in doubles with 14 and seventh in on-base percentage at .478. Mead led the Ichabods with 21 multi-hit games and was second with nine multi-RBI games and was also a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and a member of the MIAA Scholar Athlete Team.
