EDMOND, Okla. -- Washburn women's tennis will be represented in both singles and doubles on the A Flights for the final day of ITA Regionals with Maja Jung qualifying in singles and two doubles tandems reaching the semifinals. Competition will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
In the quarterfinals of Flight A Jung won her only match of the day in two sets both by 6-4 scores to reach the semifinals on Sunday. In doubles Jung and Lara Schmid won an 8-0 round of 16 match and 8-2 in the quarterfinals to advance.
In the round of 16 Issabella Pensavalle and Martine Carroll fell 8-3 while Renske Ubachs and Isabella Martensson advanced with an 8-6 victory. In the quarterfinals Martensson and Ubachs won 8-4 to give Washburn a second qualification into the semifinals.
In Flight B of singles Maddie Shelley and Cadence Lynn each won round of 16 matches in two sets while Pensavalle fell 6-2, 6-4. In the quarterfinals later in the day both Shelley and Lynn lost in two sets.
Daphney Koutsofta won a third set tiebreaker in her semifinals match in Flight C singles but fell in two sets in the finals, 6-2, 6-1.
In Flight B of doubles Lynn and Peyton Koper won an 8-4 round of 16 match to open their tournament and followed that up with a 9-7 victory in the quarterfinals to advance to the third day.
