Box Score WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- No. 13 Washburn waited out the rain and came away with a 4-2 win over Cameron on Friday morning into the afternoon. The Ichabods take on No. 18 Midwestern State on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Doubles play started on the third court as Pavlos Parson and Santiago Rendon were able to begin the match with a 6-2 win. Tim Hammes and Sebastian Pjontek notched a 6-4 win at No. 1 to clinch the doubles point. No. 33 Matthew Earle and Daniel Bird led 5-4 at No. 2 when the point was decided.
Washburn (5-3) went up 2-0 with No. 15 Hammes winning a pair of 6-2 sets on court two. The Aggies (1-3) got on the board as No. 22 Rendon fell 6-3 and 6-4 in two sets at No. 3.
Earle won his first set at No. 4 7-6 after a tiebreaker. In the second set he did the same thing, setting up match point for the Ichabods. No. 4 Pjontek won his first set on the top court 6-2 but fell 6-2 in each of the next two sets.
Bird won his first set 6-3 at No. 5 and was leading in the second before the match was suspended for over an hour due to rain. Out of the break Bird didn't take long to finish off a 6-2 win in the second set to clinch the match. No. 60 Parson took his first set to an extra point before falling short 7-5, he led 2-1 in the second set when the match was decided.
