Ichabod baseball recognized by MIAA for academic success

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Twenty-three players from Washburn baseball were recognized by the MIAA for their academic success Wednesday morning as they were named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. Griffin Huiatt also earned MIAA Scholar Athlete honors.  

To be named to the Academic Honor Roll the student athlete must have a cumulative grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. They must also have at least two terms of grades reported at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. 

Max Clark (Management), Caden Bressler (Kinesiology), Shane Morrow (Kinesiology), Jake Schroeder (Finance), Otto Jones (Psychology), Connor Scott (Integrated Studies), Trevor McCollum (Mass Media), Cole Benzmiller (International Business), Seger Holman (Business), Grant Jones (Kinesiology), Trey Adams (Computer Information & Science), Blake Scott (Data Analytics), Gavin Wilhelm (Accounting), Teagan Tamiya (Entrepreneurship & Innovation), Cade Parry (Entrepreneurship & Innovation), Jayden Payne (Integrated Studies), Andrew Schmidtlein (Finance), Griffin Huiatt (Economics), Ike Book (History), Charlier Kiefer (Business), Cal Leonard (Business), Cole Warner (Business) and Easton Bruce (Management) were recognized for Washburn.  

To be recognized as a MIAA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 at the certifying member institution while also earning All-MIAA honors and have at least two terms of grades reported at the member institution.   

Griffin Huiatt met the criteria to be recognized as an MIAA Scholar Athlete for the Ichabods.  

Across the MIAA for baseball there were 214 student-athletes selected to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll with 16 named MIAA Scholar Athletes and nine earning Academic Excellence with a 4.0 cumulative GPA. 

All freshmen and transfer student athlete award winners will be announced in a separate release later in the month.
