KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Washburn women's tennis wrapped up its first tournament of the season winning one draw at the Rockhurst Invite on Sunday morning into the afternoon. The Ichabods will be back on the courts next in Topeka at the Washburn Invite on Sept. 14. 

In the Green Draw of doubles competition Leo Floeth and Isabella Martensson remained after day one. In their semifinals match they came up short, losing 6-4.  

Maddie Shelley and Saajida Razick also saw their run in end the semifinals as they fell 6-4 in the Orange Draw. Issabella Pensavalle and Jasel Bailey were able to advance into the finals with a 6-3 victory. They repeated the same score in the finals to capture the draw title.  

In consolation action and extra matches the Ichabods tallied a 4-0 doubles record on the day.  

On the singles side, Razick was defeated in the finals of the Red Draw, falling 7-5 and 6-1 in both sets.  

The rest of the Washburn squad for singles played consolation duals or extra matches. In those matches they went 5-3 on the day to close out the tournament.
