TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Ichabod women's tennis squad will begin the season ranked No. 11 in the nation after being tabbed there in the preseason ITA rankings released on Wednesday morning.

Washburn will enter the season No. 11 after finishing last season at No. 14 in the final poll for 2023-24. The Ichabods are coming off a third straight trip to the NCAA National Tournament where they advanced to the Round of 16. So far in the 2024-25 season they have gone 55-21 in singles duals while posting a 35-13 record in doubles duals at fall tournaments.

In the fall Washburn had four players qualify for the ITA Cup, Leo Floeth, Isabella Martensson, Renske Ubachs and Daniela Tijaro. The quartet qualified after Ubachs and Tijaro won the ITA Central Region Doubles Championship, defeating Floeth and Martensson in the finals.

Barry will begin the season as the No. 1 team in the nation followed by Nova Southeastern at No. 2. The Ichabods are the highest-ranked team in the MIAA followed by Nebraska Kearney at No. 13, Northwest Missouri at No. 23 and Missouri Western at No. 24.

Washburn begins the spring season with a home exhibition match against Cowley County Community College at 1 p.m. on Jan. 25 at the Genesis Tennis Center.
