TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod football had three members selected for the 2024 Academic All-District® team announced today by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. This year's honorees from the Ichabods are
Jordan Finnesy,
Chase McCoy and
Ty Weber. Finnesy and McCoy will both move on to the CSC Academic All-America® team ballot.
Finnesy is a repeat selection to the team after earning academic all-district honors in 2022. This past season, Finnesy started all 11 games at safety making 49 solo tackles and 40 assisted tackles while breaking up eight passes with one interception. He recorded a season-high 16 total tackles against Central Missouri en route to all-MIAA Third Team honors and was named a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and a MIAA Scholar-Athlete.
McCoy started all 11 games at defensive tackle this season recording 30 total tackles with 10 solo stops leading the team with 6.5 sacks tying for the team lead with eight tackles for loss. He also had a 20-yard interception return touchdown against Missouri Southern as he earned all-MIAA Honorable Mention accolades and was a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
Weber appeared in all 11 games making eight starts at tight end recording two passes for 18 yards and was a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
