KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- For the first time this season Washburn volleyball was recognized with an MIAA Athlete of the Week with senior Alex Dvorak being tabbed as the Offensive Player of the Week for the No. 9 Ichabods.  

Alex Dvorak helped Washburn go 3-0 last week with a road sweep over Emporia State and two home victories over Fort Hays State and No. 2 Nebraska Kearney, both in straight sets as well. 

The Kansas City, Mo. native slashed 24 kills on the week (2.67 per set) while hitting a league-high .605. Defensively, she also added 14 blocks (1.56 per set) for two-way impact. In the Saturday win over the Lopers, Dvorak had a team-high 10 kills on just 13 swings for a .769 attacking percentage while also adding two blocks.  

Washburn remains at home this week beginning with a Thursday meeting with Central Missouri at 6 p.m. in Whiting Fieldhouse.
