LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Washburn volleyball has its highest national ranking since September 18, 2022 with a No. 2 ranking in the most recent AVCA national poll released on Monday afternoon. Â
The Ichabods moved to 17-1 on the year and 6-1 inside the MIAA after three sweeps last week over Emporia State, Fort Hays State and Nebraska Kearney. They move up seven spots to the No. 2 ranking after being ranked No. 9 last week. The No. 2 ranking matches Washburn's ranking on Sept. 18 of the 2022-23 season. Â
Tampa remains in the top spot of the rankings, receiving all 47 first-place votes. Barry remains at No. 3, one spot behind the Ichabods. MIAA foe Central Oklahoma and Nebraska Kearney round out the top-five at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively. Also representing the MIAA is Central Missouri at No. 24 with Missouri Western and Emporia State receiving votes. Â
Washburn will face the No. 24 Jennies this week as they remain at home on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. Â
