ROME, Ga. -- Washburn tennis will be represented by Renske Ubachs and Daniela Tijaro in day two of the ITA Cup after the duo won their opening-round match as the Ichabods went 1-2 on the day. The duo will take the court at 3:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
Beginning the day in singles play, Renske Ubachs fell in the round of 16 in a two-set match to Alyssa Novoa of Rollins College, 6-3 and 6-2.
On the men's side of singles Pavlos Parson took his opening set 6-4 over Lukas Janousek of Cameron University. The Aggie battled back to win 6-3 in the second and 6-4 in the fourth, taking the round of 16 match.
In doubles play, Renske Ubachs and Daniela Tijaro lost in the opening set 6-3 to Emilia Gyorgy and Camilla Garcia Morales of Midwestern State. They bounced back, winning 6-2 in the second and forcing a 10-point tiebreaker in the third. They jumped out ahead and did not look back, winning 10-4 in the tiebreaker.
In the quarterfinals match they will face off with Sandra Recuenco Tarin and Carlota Verdu of West Florida.
