Ichabods Advance to NCAA Second Round with 2-0 Win Over Griffons

MANKATO, MINN. - The Washburn Soccer Team moves on to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament after a 2-0 victory over Missouri Western.

"I thought they played really, really well. I thought the girls brought a terrific mentality and put on a really good performance today. Really happy with what they could do on the field today," said Ichabod Head Coach Davy Phillips.

FIRST HALF
The opening 10 minutes were controlled by the Griffons, who attempted two shots on goal in that span. It would be a back-and-forth game with Kate Hinck firing a left-footed shot that would hit off the post in the 21st minute, and in the 28th minute, Grace Peterson's shot was saved off the line by the goalkeeper. The Ichabods would find the opener in the 33rd minute through freshman Kate Hinck from a beauty of a pass from fellow freshman Leah Henke. Washburn would lead going into the break. Lili Everley made four saves in the opening 45 minutes.

SECOND HALF
Washburn would start the second 45 with 3 shots in the opening 5 minutes, with two of them being on goal. Washburn would continue to apply pressure, looking for a second goal, which they would eventually find by way of Leah Henke in the 65th minute, assisted by sophomore Sam Searcey. The Ichabods would see out the match for a 2-0 win.
