SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The No. 2- ranked Washburn Ichabods continued their perfect start to the season with a 78–66 win over No. 4 Lubbock Christian on Tuesday morning at Bill Greehey Arena in San Antonio, improving to 12–0 on the year in their first game of the River City Classic. Washburn will continue the event on Wednesday facing No. 8 West Texas A&M.

The Ichabods seized control early behind hot perimeter shooting and strong work on the glass, shooting 58.6 percent from the floor and 46.7 percent from three-point range in the opening half. Washburn closed the first 20 minutes turning a tight contest into a 43–34 halftime lead. A pair of late threes helped the Ichabods stretch the margin to nine at the break.

Washburn pushed the advantage to as many as 15 points early in the second half, using a 9–0 run capped by a fast-break finish and a second-chance three to take firm control at 53–38 with 15:43 remaining. Lubbock Christian (9-2) answered with its best stretch of the game, trimming the margin to four midway through the half, but the Ichabods responded by closing out the game on a 19-11 spurt jump started by a 3-pointer by Marcus Glock with 6:33 to play.
