EDMOND, Okla. -- No. 5 Washburn worked a sixth straight win on Saturday afternoon, defeating No. 40 Harding 5-2 to begin the weekend road trip. The Ichabods will face Cameron in Lawton, Okla. on Monday at 10 a.m.
Doubles play began with a win for Washburn (8-1) as Leo Floeth and Peyton Koper breezed to a 6-2 win at No. 2. Isabella Martensson and Saajida Razick followed closely behind, winning 6-2 at No. 3 to secure the doubles point. Daniela Tijaro and Renske Ubachs completed a doubles sweep for the Ichabods, winning 7-6(4) on the top court
In singles play Jasel Bailey led off at No. 6, winning her dual in less than 40 minutes with a pair of 6-1 victories. Saajida Razick swept her first set 6-0 and added another point to the Ichabods total, winning 6-4 in the second at No. 3. Peyton Koper provided the match-clinching point at No. 5, winning a pair of sets 6-2 and 6-3.
The Bisons got on the board as Leo Floeth fell at No. 2 in two sets, both 6-2. Renske Ubachs won her opening set 6-2 and worked a 6-3 victory in the second to add another point from the top court. Harding closed out the match with another point as Daniela Tijaro fell in the third set supertiebreaker 10-7 after splitting the first two sets 4-6 and 6-2.
