EDMOND, Okla. -- No. 5 Washburn picked up its second ranked win in as many days, sweeping No. 50 Ouachita Baptist 7-0 in a neutral court dual on Sunday afternoon. The Ichabods wrap up the week away taking on Cameron on Monday at 10 a.m. in Lawton, Okla.
Tommy Cecchetti and Vasek Schneider began doubles play with a 6-1 win at No. 2. Tim Hammes and Matthew Earle were close behind, defeating No. 6 nationally ranked Phil Exner and Ramon Strassmann 6-2 in a top-10 battle, securing the doubles point. Moritz Pieper and Zino Nahirniak completed a doubles sweep for Washburn (10-2) with a 6-2 win at No. 3.
Singles competition began on court four with Matthew Earle working a quick 6-2 win in the first set and closing out his dual winning 6-4 in the second. Tommy Cecchetti followed closely behind at No. 5, winning 6-1 in the first at 6-4 in the second. Zino Nahirniak worked a 6-4 win in his first set at No. 6 before cruising to a 6-1 win in the second, providing the clinching point over the Tigers (7-5).
Pavlos Parson won in two sets, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3, adding another point to the total. Tim Hammes picked up another ranked victory, defeated No. 2 ranked Exner in a pair of 6-4 sets on the top court. Vasek Schneider closed out the sweep winning 6-4 in the first set and 7-6(3) in the second.
