TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod baseball team were on the wrong end of a home team walk off on Saturday at Falley Field as Northwest Missouri rallied from a one-run defict in the bottom of the ninth topping the Ichabods 8-7 in the opening game of the series in Topeka. Games two and three will be played in Maryville at the Bearcats' field.
Trailing 6-5 entering the top of the ninth,
Jackson Mervosh drew a bases-loaded walk scoring
Cash Jay and then a sac fly from
Blake Scott scored
Easton Bruce putting the Ichabods up 7-6.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Ichabods were able to get the first two outs of the frame, the Bearcats recorded a single and then Ashton Neuman connected on the first pitch of the at bat ending the game with the 8-7 win.
Mervosh led the Ichabods with three of Washburn's eight hits driving in two with a solo home run in the sixth.
Jett Buck also hit a home run scoring two.
Cooper Carlgren struck out five in 5 1/3 innings allowing four earned runs and
Caden Bressler took the loss striking out two in 3 1/3 innings.
