KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Washburn Ichabod baseball had 19 student-athletes recognized by the MIAA for their academic success on Thursday afternoon being named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. Three Ichabods also earned MIAA Scholar-Athlete honors.
To be named to the Academic Honor Roll the student athlete must have a cumulative grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. They must also have at least two terms of grades reported at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
Earning that distinction from Washburn are: Logan Bartlett (Business), Konnor Becker (Management), Cole Benzmiller (International Business), Easton Bruce (Management), Jett Buck (Integrated Studies), Cooper Carlgren (Integrated Studies), Griffin Huiatt (Business), Cash Jay (Kinesiology), Cal Leonard (Business), Chase Littrell (Entrepreneurship and Innovation), Trevor McCollum (Mass Media), Keegan McDonald (Kinesiology), Payton McHarg (Integrated Studies), Blake Priest (Political Science), Blake Scott (Data Analytics), Connor Scott (Integrated Studies), Kolby Wheeler (Law Enforcement), Gavin Wilhelm (Finance), Sam Wragge (Finance).
The Ichabods had the most scholar-athletes of any team around the conference for the spring. To be recognized as a MIAA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 at the certifying member institution while also earning All-MIAA honors and have at least two terms of grades reported at the member institution.
From Washburn, Easton Bruce, Cooper Carlgren and Cash Jay all earned the honor.
Around the conference 228 players earned MIAA Academic Honor Roll status with 16 named Scholar-Athletes and 12 recognized with the Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a 4.0 cumulative GPA.
All freshmen and transfer student athlete award winners will be announced in a separate release later in the month.
