TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn men's tennis had a busy day one of its fall home slate at the Washburn Invite with all 10 Ichabods in action. They will finish out the tournament on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.  

All five Washburn duos competed in the main stage of doubles action and came away with victories. Zino Nahirniak and Benjamin Fock claimed an 8-5 victory while Tommy Cecchetti and Petr Leipner worked an 8-6 win. Graham Faris and Yoshinobu Nakatsuji breezed to an 8-3 win while both Moritz Piper and Mason Fair, along with Pavlos Parson and Yuto Miyagawa won 8-4 in the opening round.  

In singles action both Yuto Miyagawa and Tommy Cecchetti were knocked out in the opening round of the blue draw. In the red draw Pavlos Parson and Benjamin Fock each won first round battles in two sets. Fock breezed through his second round match while Parson fell in two sets.  

Moritz Pieper and Zino Nahirniak each won quarterfinal round matches in the green draw before dropping semifinal duals. Yoshinobu Nakatsuji's run in the purple draw came to an end in the quarterfinals, as did Petr Leipner's after three sets. From the purple draw, Graham Faris won two matches to advance to championship Saturday. Mason Fair won his opening match in the orange draw due to injury withdraw. In the semifinals he was forced to withdraw due to injury before the match began.
