TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn women's tennis began its fall home season with a statement on day one of the Washburn Invite going a combined 16-1 in singles and doubles matches and the only loss coming due to injury withdraw. The Ichabods will finish out the tournament draws on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.  

All four doubles teams competed in the main stage and claimed round one victories. Daniela Tijaro and Renske Ubachs won 8-5, Saajida Razick and Riko Konno claimed an 8-2 victory as did Maddie Shelley and Charlotte Bair. Jasel Bailey and Peyton Koper won 8-5 over their opponents in the opening round as well.  

In the blue draw of singles play both Renske Ubachs and Riko Konno went 2-0 on the day with neither one dropping a set. Daniela Tijaro and Saajida Razick did the same in the red draw.  

The remaining four Ichabods competed in the green draw. Jasel Bailey claimed a two-set victory in the first round while Charlotte Bair and Maddie Shelley won in three sets. Peyton Koper was forced to withdraw due to injury before her match began. With Shelley and Bailey set to face-off the match was voided. That left Bair to claim a two-set victory in round two.
