ST. LOUIS, MO. - The Washburn Ichabod Soccer team kicks off its 2025 season on Thursday, September 4, against #25 Maryville, with Kickoff set for 4 PM.
The Ichabods are coached by Davy Phillips, who is starting his 9th season at the helm, and led Washburn to back-to-back Regular Season MIAA Championships and NCAA tournament appearances. Ichabods finished last season 14-4-3 with a MIAA record of 10-1-1.
"I'm eager to see this year's group compete and become battle-tested. We have intentionally put together the toughest non-conference schedule in my time here, and I'm excited for the journey it will provide us to prepare for our incredibly demanding MIAA schedule." Phillips said. "We have a really entertaining and hungry group, and I'm looking forward to seeing who we can become in the 2025 season."
The Ichabods return 17 players from last season's roster and add 12 newcomers, 11 of whom are freshmen. One of the returners is Senior Belle Kennedy, who is coming off the back of back-to-back All-MIAA First-Team honors and added three goals and one assist as a Junior last year. Also returning is Junior Defender Lindsey Maul, who was voted to the All-MIAA Third Team in 2024, and joining her is Senior Lakin Rold, who leads all returners with minutes played last season and was named to the All-MIAA Honorable Mention team last season.
Washburn returns 46% of their goal contributions from last season after losing Khloe Shuckman to graduation, who contributed to 23% of the goal contributions. Ichabods return three of the top six goal scorers from last season: Mackinly Rohn(3), Belle Kennedy(3), and Presslee Amick(2).
