TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn men's tennis dominated the singles portion of day two at the ITA Central Region Championships, sending three of four players into the semifinal round on Sunday. Semifinal action will begin at 9 a.m. from Kossover Tennis Center.  

Washburn swept the round of 16 in singles play beginning with Zino Nahirniak winning in two sets, both 6-1. Yuto Miyagawa battled through a 6-3 first set before winning 6-1 in the second to advance. Pavlos Parson also delivered a two-set victory, winning 6-4 and 6-3 sets. Benjamin Fock won 6-1 in his opening set and just missed out on winning in two as he lost a tiebreaker 7-6(3). The third set went his way with an extra game, winning 7-5 to advance.  

In the quarterfinals Pavlos Parson continued to roll, winning 6-3 and 6-0 sets to move on. In an all-Washburn battle, Zino Nahirniak defeated Benjamin Fock in two sets, 6-1 in both, to advance into the semifinals. After losing the first set 6-4. Yuto Miyagawa recovered to win 6-3 and 6-4 in the final two sets to put a third Ichabod in the semifinals.  

Miyagawa will face off with Parson at 9 a.m. on Sunday with Nahirniak on the other side of the bracket. The finals is set for 12 p.m.  

In doubles competition, Pavlos Parson and Yuto Miyagawa pulled away late to win in a teibreaker of Emporia State 9-8(3) and move on. Zino Nahirniak and Benjamin Fock didn't have the late drama, but joined them with a 8-4 win in the round of 16. In the quarterfinal round, Parson and Miyagawa played an extra game but came up just short, falling 9-7. Fock and Nahirniak fell to a similar fate, also losing 9-7 in the quarterfinal round.
