WICHITA, KAN. – The Washburn Soccer team continues MIAA play on the road as they travel south to take on Newman Sunday afternoon.

Washburn enters the match following Friday's contest at Central Oklahoma, where they tied 0-0 to open the MIAA season. The Ichabods last week defeated Harding and Ouachita Baptist. Freshman Kate Hinck and senior Shaye Taylor each scored their first collegiate goals in those matches, showcasing contributions from both ends of the roster.

Washburn averages 11 shots a game while holding opponents to just 7 attempts per match. The Ichabods have also been strong on set pieces, with 32 corner kicks through six games compared to just 19 allowed.

ABOUT NEWMAN
 The Jets open conference play with a 1-5-1 record. Newman has won over William Jewell. They lost the MIAA opener 3-1 to Emporia State. 

SERIES HISTORY
 Washburn leads the all-time series 7-3-1 against Newman. The Ichabods earned a 3-0 victory last year in Topeka.
