Ichabods Back In Action Saturday Afternoon To Take On Missouri-St. Louis

9/5/2025 2:16:00 PM

ST. LOUIS, MO. - The Washburn Ichabod Soccer team returns to action again Saturday to face off with Missouri-St. Louis, with kickoff slated for 12 PM.

"UMSL will provide us another great opportunity to grow together as a team on the second leg of our STL roadtrip." Said Washburn Head Coach Davy Phillips. "It's a program that competed in the National Tournament last year, so I'm excited about the challenges they will provide for our team to continue to learn and grow from."

In the opening game of the season, Washburn drew with #25 Maryville. The Saints opened the scoring in the 37th minute with a goal from Gina Catanzaro to take a 1-0 lead heading into the break. Washburn would start the second half with 2 shots, with one on goal in the opening minute of the half. In the 56th minute, Maryville's goalscorer, Catanzaro, would receive a red card, and Washburn would play the rest of the match with an extra player advantage. The Ichabods would find the equalizer with only two seconds remaining with a goal from freshman forward Leah Henke

The Ichabods, coming off a late tying goal to force a tie with #25 Maryville, will look to get in the win column to finish out the weekend in St. Louis.

Washburn started last season hosting Missouri-St. Louis in the season opener, and the Tritons took home the victory.
