KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Washburn Ichabod basketball squad remained in the top spot for the third-straight week after topping Emporia State 91-66 in their first action of the new calendar as the new poll was released today. The Ichabods will load the bus for the first time in 2026 making their way to St. Joseph, Mo. to face the Missouri Western Griffons on Wednesday, Jan. 7 for a 7:30 p.m. start. The Griffons received votes in this week's coaches poll.
The Ichabods moved to 14-0 – one of five remaining undefeated teams in Division II – after opening the calendar season with a 25-point win over Emporia State on Jan. 3.
The Ichabods have been ranked in the top 10 in the last 21 polls dating back to last year and in the top five in the last 19 consecutive polls overall.
