TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn women's basketball was ranked No. 6 in the first ordered set of regional rankings released by the NCAA on Wednesday afternoon. The Ichabods were included in the first week's rankings that were aligned in alphabetical order.
Washburn enters the week with a 19-7 record overall and 12-5 in the MIAA while riding a four-game winning streak. Against Central Region competition they have gone 18-6 this season. The Ichabods set in the No. 6 spot of what will be an eight-team field.
Minnesota State sits in the top spot in the region followed by Fort Hays State and Harding respectively to make up the top-three. From the MIAA it is just Fort Hays State and Central Missouri, ranked No. 5, who join Washburn in the rankings.
A final set of rankings before the selection show will be released next Wednesday, March 4.
Washburn is in action tonight, at 5:30 p.m., against Pittsburg State inside of Lee Arena.
