TEMPE, Ariz. -- Washburn women's tennis rose up in the polls for another week moving to a season-high ranking of No. 5 while the Ichabod men fall to No. 16 in the nation in the latest ITA rankings released on Wednesday morning.
The Washburn women are 5-2 on the year after defeating No. 33 Flagler 4-1 last time out on March 7. They rise up one spot from No. 6 in the rankings last week. Around the conference Northwest Missouri is ranked No. 39, Nebraska Kearney at No. 46 and Central Oklahoma enters the rankings at No. 50.
In the individual rankings, Renske Ubachs moves to No. 9 in singles. Riko Konno falls six spots to No. 31 while Jasel Bailey rises to No. 62. On the doubles side Renske Ubachs and Daniela Tijaro are ranked No. 11 in the nation.
The Ichabod men move down eight spots to No. 16 after falling to 5-5 on the season with a 1-3 trip to Florida last week. Around the MIAA/GAC, Nebraska Kearney rises to No. 18, Harding moves to No. 31 with Ouachita Baptist at No. 38. Southern Arkansas and Northwest Missouri round out the group at No. 46 and No. 48 respectively.
In singles play Pavlos Parson drops to a No. 21 ranking. Behind him is Kilian Martinez is ranked No. 29 with Tommy Cecchetti at No. 40 and Yuto Miyagawa ranked No. 50.
Both teams are back in action this weekend in Edmond, Okla. Beginning Fridy, March 13 at 10 a.m. taking on Southeastern Oklahoma State.
