EDMOND, Okla. -- No. 16 Washburn worked its second sweep in as many days, defeating No. 31 Harding 4-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Ichabods wrap up the weekend on Sunday taking on No. 6 Lubbock Christian at 10 a.m.
It was the Bisons (8-4) who took the advantage in doubles competition right away, winning 6-3 at No. 2 over Tommy Cecchetti and Pavlos Parson. Yuto Miyagawa and Yoshinobu Nakatsuji battled to win a 6-3 match at No. 3 over No. 26 Edoardo E'Arrigo and Sebastian Salas. Benjamin Fock and Zino Nahirniak came back from a late deficit to win a 7-6(5) tiebreaker over No. 3 ranked Cian Mikkelsen and Adrian Solorzano on the top court and take the doubles point for Washburn (7-5).
Benjamin Fock continued the momentum into singles play, winning 6-2 and 6-1 sets at No. 6. No. 40 Tommy Cecchetti won a pair of 6-2 sets on court three to bring up match point. No. 50 Yuto Miyagawa finished out the match also winning in two sets, 6-3 and 6-2 on court five.
On the top court No. 21 Pavlos Parson was up 1-0 and led 6-5 in the second set when the point was decided. No. 29 Killian Martinez led 4-1 in the second after falling in the first at No. 2 and Zino Nahirniak was in his second set after winning the first when the match was clinched.
