TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn women's basketball had four players earn spots on the 2026 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team announced on Tuesday morning by the organization.
The All-District and All-America teams recognize women's basketball athletes at each NCAA division based on their combined performance on the field and in the classroom. Freshmen are not eligible to be selected for the team while transfers in their first year are eligible. Players must carry a 3.50 cumulative grade point average while competing in 90 percent of a teams games during the season or starting in at least two-thirds of the total games played.
From the Ichabods, Payton Sterk (Kinesiology), Gabi Giovannetti (Health Services Administration), Aniah Wayne (Kinesiology) and Britany Kogbara (Biology) were selected. Sterk, Giovannetti and Wayne all earn the honor for a second straight season while Kogbara is tabbed for the first time in her career. Payton Sterk will advance to the CSC Academic All-America finalist ballot.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced April 15, 2026.
