TEMPE, Ariz. -- Both Washburn tennis teams remain inside the top-10 of the latest ITA rankings with the women moving up to No. 6 and the men falling a few spots down to No. 8 in the rankings released by the organization on Wednesday morning.
The Ichabod women move up for a fourth straight week to a season-high No. 6. They are 3-1 on the year. West Alamba holds the top spot in the women's rankings. No other MIAA school ranks inside the top-50.
In individual rankings for singles, Renske Ubachs rises to No. 7 in the nation while Riko Konno also moves up to the No. 25 spot. Saajida Razick enters the rankings for the first time at No. 64 with Jasel Bailey also doing so just behind her at No. 65.
In doubles competition Renske Ubachs and Daniela Tijaro are slotted at No. 9 in the nation. After competing together in the fall Saajida Razick and Riko Konno are ranked No. 42 in the nation.
The Ichabod men move to No. 8 in the nation with a 4-3 record on the year and 1-0 in conference play. Barry takes the top spot in the rankings. Around the conference Nebraska Kearney is ranked No. 18, Southern Arkansas at No. 33, Harding at No. 36 and Ouachita Baptist ranked No. 38.
Individually on the singles side Pavlos Parson is ranked No. 11 in the nation while Kilian Martinez enters the rankings at No. 23 nationally. Tommy Cecchetti joins the rankings for the first time this season at No. 31 and Yuto Miyagawa moves up to No. 33.
In doubles play Tommy Cecchetti and Kilian Martinez moved into the rankings at No. 42 in the nation.
Both teams are in action today in Lakeland, Fla. Taking on Charleston at 12 p.m. CST.
