WTEN 26 All MIAA

Six from Ichabod women's tennis named to All-MIAA teams

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Six players from the Washburn Ichabod women's tennis squad were named to the All-MIAA teams announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon. 

Saajida Razick and Jasel Bailey each earned first-team honors in doubles for the first time in their careers. The duo has gone 13-4 together, all coming in duals, with a 7-1 record in MIAA play. They are 8-1 playing at No. 1 including winning their last seven times out. The duo of sophomores has gone 1-1 against ranked competition this season.  

Also on the All-MIAA First-Team in singles is Renske Ubachs for a second straight season. Ubachs leads the team with 26 singles victories going 26-5 on the year. She is 14-3 in duals, all coming on the top court, while posting an 8-1 record against MIAA opponents. She wrapped up the regular season winning her last seven decisions.  

Daniela Tijaro and Mariana Silva Balsa land on the All-MIAA Second-Team for doubles after the duo began playing together in the spring. They have gone 9-3 together, all coming in duals, while posting an 8-1 record inside of the MIAA. They are 8-2 playing at No. 2 and have won their last seven decisions.  

Tijaro also earns a second-team nod in singles. The sophomore has gone 19-10 in singles this season with a 12-7 record in duals. She has gone 6-3 against MIAA opponents while posting am 11-5 record playing at No. 3.  

Saajida Razick is also an All-MIAA Second-Team selection in singles. She has gone 19-4 on the year with a 7-1 record against MIAA opponents. The sophomore is 12-3 in duals playing at four different spots but primarily from No. 4 and No. 5 where she is a combined 8-3. 

Riko Konno earns the first All-MIAA nod of her career as an Honorable Mention in singles. As a freshman she has gone 21-6 overall with a 4-3 record in conference play. She is 12-5 in spring duals with an 11-4 record at No. 2. She is 2-2 against ranked opponents, the most ranked victories on the Ichabods.  

Jasel Bailey also earns the first singles All-MIAA honor of her career as an Honorable Mention. She has gone 22-3 on the year in singles with a 16-2 mark in duals including a perfect 8-0 showing in MIAA play. The sophomore has won her last 13 times on the court and has a 7-0 record from No. 7.  

Washburn begins the MIAA Tournament as the No. 2 seed and will face either No. 3 Northwest Missouri or No. 6 Nebraska Kearney at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 2 in Springfield, Mo.
