TEMPE, Ariz. -- Washburn tennis was awarded with five total ITA Central Region honors announced by the International Tennis Association on Tuesday morning.  

Head coach Kirby Ronning was named the Central Region Coach of the Year on both the men's and women's side, Pavlos Parson was named the men's Most Improved Player, Renske Ubachs earned Senior Player of the Year honors on the women's side and Kilian Martinez was named the Rookie of the Year for the men.  

Ronning has led the men's team to a18-5 record, MIAA/GAC Tournament Championship and the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Central Region Tournament. He has guided the women to a 20-3 record, MIAA Regular Season Championship and already secured a spot in the NCAA National Tournament. The awards are the fifth and sixth time Ronning has been named the ITA Central Region Coach of the Year with three on both the men's and women's side.  

Pavlos Parson is named the ITA Central Region Men's Most Improved Player after going 22-13 on the year in singles play and 21-8 in doubles. In the fall he won the ITA Central Region Singles Championship and in the spring has gone 10-10 in singles duals with a 15-6 mark in doubles play.  

Renske Ubachs is the ITA Central Region Women's Senior Player of the Year after a strong final campaign that began by winning the ITA Central Region Singles Championship in the fall. She has gone 27-6 in singles and 21-6 in doubles play on the year with a 15-4 mark in duals in singles and 13-4 in doubles.  

Kilian Martinez is named the ITA Central Region Men's Rookie of the Year after joining the Ichabods in the spring. He has posted a 14-3 record in singles play and is 8-6 in doubles. He is 4-1 against ranked opponents in singles with a 10-1 mark at No. 3 and in doubles is also 3-2 against ranked opponents.  

The Washburn women will head to the NCAA Round of 16 in Surprise, Ariz. beginning May 19 while the men face No. 41 Ouachita Baptist on the afternoon of May 12th for a spot in the Round of 16 as well.
