Washburn women's tennis ranked No. 16 in final ITA rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Washburn women's tennis ends the season ranked No. 16 in the final ITA national rankings released by the organization on Wednesday afternoon.  

The Ichabods ended the season with a 20-5 record after going 8-1 in the MIAA Regular Season to win a share of the MIAA Regular Season Championship for a second straight season. They advanced to the NCAA National Championships for a third time in the last four seasons before falling in the Round of 16.  

Washburn moved up one spot from its previous ITA ranking of No. 16 in the penultimate poll.  

This year's National Champion, Nova Southeastern, tops the national rankings followed by Barry and West Florida to round out the top three. Around the conference Central Oklahoma is ranked No. 27 with Missouri Western ranked No. 39 and Northwest Missouri at No. 42.  

On the individual side two players are ranked in singles competition. Renske Ubachs is ranked No. 34 in the nation in singles while Riko Konno ends her freshman season with a No. 55 ranking. 

In doubles play Renske Ubachs and Daniela Tijaro finish the year ranked No. 19 in the nation with Jasel Bailey and Saajida Razick are ranked No. 44 in doubles across the country.
