INDIANAPOLIS, In. -- Washburn women's tennis is back in the NCAA Tournament for the 22nd time in program history as the No. 3 seed in the Central Region and will face the No. 6 seed Arkansas Tech in the first round of the three-team field in Edmond, Okla.
The Ichabods enter the tournament for a seventh straight season, the final six of those coming under head coach Kirby Ronning. Washburn is 18-4 on the season after going 8-1 in the MIAA regular season and advancing to the MIAA Tournament Championship.
The first round meeting with Arkansas Tech is scheduled for Friday, May 8 beginning at 11 a.m. The winner will face the No. 2 seed in the region, Central Oklahoma, on Saturday, May 9, in a match also scheduled for 11 a.m. Match times are subject to change.
The winner of the three-team bracket will advance to the NCAA National Championships in Surprise, Arizona beginning May 19 at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex.
