KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Washburn tennis had nine total players earn MIAA Academic Honors announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon. The Ichabods also earned two MIAA Scholar-Athletes and a pair of MIAA Academic Excellence honors.
To be named to the Academic Honor Roll the student athlete must have a cumulative grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. They must also have at least two terms of grades reported at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
The nine Ichabods named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll were:
Jasel Bailey (Marketing),
Peyton Koper (Nursing),
Saajida Razick (Psychology),
Maddie Shelley (Nursing),
Daniela Tijaro (Data Analytics),
Renske Ubachs (Kinesiology),
Mason Fair (Finance),
Graham Faris (Accounting) and
Moritz Pieper (International Business).
To be recognized as a MIAA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 at the certifying member institution while also earning All-MIAA honors and have at least two terms of grades reported at the member institution.
Both
Saajida Razick and
Daniela Tijaro earned MIAA Scholar-Athlete honors for a second straight season to begin their careers.
To earn the Academic Excellence Award a student-athlete must maintain a 4.0 cumulative GPA.
Mason Fair and
Saajida Razick each earned the honor.
Around the conference 40 women's tennis athletes earned Academic Honor Roll honors, with 13 being named Scholar-Athletes and three Academic Excellence recipients.
For the MIAA/GAC men's teams 56 student-athletes earned Academic Honor Roll honors with 11 Scholar-Athletes and nine Academic Excellence recipients.
All freshmen and transfer student athlete award winners will be announced in a separate release later in the month.
