GREENWOOD, Ind. – Washburn senior track and cross country standout
Lexie Fontaine has been named just the second Ichabod women's track and field member to earn College Sports Communicators 2025-26 Academic All-America® honors joining Virgi Scardanzan, who was a first-team team selection following the 2020 season as she was announced as a second-team selection on Wednesday.
Fontaine had a record-breaking indoor and outdoor track campaign becoming a three-time All-American earning two All-American awards at the NCAA Outdoor Championship finishing sixth in the 1500m in a school-record time of 4:21.87 while finishing eighth in the 800m to pick up All-American honors. She was also an All-American at the NCAA Indoor Championships after finishing sixth in the 800m in a school record time of 2:08.45. Fontaine won the mile individual title setting a school record in a time of 4:46.65 at the MIAA Indoor Championships and was second in the 800m scoring 18 team points earning two all-MIAA honors. She won the 1500m at the MIAA Outdoor Championship and was second in the 800m and was part of the fourth-place 4x400m relay team scoring a total of 23 points. She earned all-region in both the indoor 800m and indoor mile and the outdoor 800m and 1500m. During the cross country season, Fontaine competed in five events finishing 12th at the NCAA Central Regional helping program to an all-time-best finish of ninth at the event earning individual all-region honors in the process with a career 6K best time of 21:25.9. She finished 19th at the MIAA Championships to earned honorable mention all-MIAA honors.
