Recorded a 37-21 record in singles play and a 61-28 overall mark in doubles acton going a combined 45-18 at No. 2 doubles … his 61 doubles wins entering the spring season are tied for ninth at Washburn in the last 30 years.

As a Junior in 2007-08
Picked up honorable mention all-MIAA honors after going 8-8 in singles play at No. 5 singles … he finished an even 13-13 in doubles play … helped Washburn to second straight NCAA national tournament appearance.

As a Sophomore in 2006-07
Earned all-MIAA honorable mention for his No. 2 doubles play with partner Nathan Martin … had a 12-3 singles record and played a majority of the time in the No. 5 spot, going 10-3 … he won his first 10 singles decisions of the season … Johnston and Martin went 21-3 in doubles with a 19-2 record in duals at the No. 2 spot … the two made it to the quarterfinal round of the Fall ITA North Central Region tournament, hosted by Northwest Missouri State … they won their final six doubles matches.

As a Freshman in 2005-06
Named first team all-MIAA at No. 2 doubles and second team in No. 6 singles … compiled a 15-7 record in singles play and 21-9 record in doubles … teamed with Nathan Martin to go 15-7 at No. 2 doubles … he and Martin advanced all the way to the championship round of the ITA regional tournament in the fall and lost to teammates Rutger Vliegenberg and Andrew Plum.
As a Medical Redshirt in 2004-05
Went 4-1 in doubles play with a 2-0 mark in the No. 3 spot … he had a 1-1 singles record.

Topeka West HS
Was a four-year qualifier for state finishing ninth, eighth and fifth in his last three season … was a finalist in doubles as a senior …  a member of the National Honor Society.
