Biography

At Washburn: Has made 33 appearances with 11 starts and has recorded 130 tackles with 65 solo stops … has added 10 tackles for loss with six pass breakups … a three-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll returning to a starting safety position entering fall camp.

In 2014: Started 11 games at a safety position finishing second on the team with 69 tackles with 28 solo stops … added 7.5 tackles for loss for 27 yards and two sacks for 15 yards … had two interceptions returning them for 23 yards … added a 23-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown against Northeastern State … tied a career-high with 12 tackles against Northwest Missouri adding a sack and an interception against the Bearcats … named the Ichabod defensive skill player of the week after the Nebraska-Kearney, Northeastern State and Northwest Missouri games … added the big hit award after the northwest Missouri game as well … a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. 

In 2013: Recorded 36 tackles with 23 solo stops and a tackle for loss and a fumble recovery appearing in 11 games … recovered fumble came against Lincoln in the end zone for a touchdown … had a career-high 12 tackles with nine solo stops against Missouri Western earning Ichabod defensive skill player of the week honors … a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

In 2012: Recorded 25 tackles with 14 solo stops playing in 11 games … added 1.5 tackles for loss for three yards … had a career-high five tackles against Fort Hays State … a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

In 2011: Sat out the season as a redshirt … named the Ichabods’ work team defensive player of the week for practice prior to the Truman game … named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

Background: Named first team all-league at both quarterback and safety as a senior after passing for 1,043 yards and 11 touchdowns playing eight games at quarterback … also had 64 carries for 394 yards and seven touchdowns … at safety he recorded 52 solo tackles and 89 total tackles with two interceptions … also named first team all-league as a punter and to the Kansas Football Coaches Association first team as a defensive back … as a junior he was a unanimous all-league defensive back and wide receiver after recording 21 catches for 327 yards and two touchdowns … named all-state defensive back after recording 99 total tackles with 59 solo stops and five interceptions … named first team all-league and all-state in basketball as a junior … as a sophomore he recorded 88 total tackles with two interceptions … a four-year member of the honor roll.

Personal: Son of Dale and Ginger Wooten … majoring in physical education.
