BackgroundPracticed with the Ichabods in the spring … played his junior season at Hardin-Simmons where he played in eight games rushing for 128 yards and two touchdowns and had four kickoff returns for 91 yards and three punt returns for 42 yards … as a freshman at Palomar Junior College he had 371 rushing yards and four touchdowns and as a sophomore he played in 10 games recording 28 carries for 180 yards and one score adding three kickoff returns for 69 yards … as a senior at Westview High School he rushed for 1,300 yards and 18 touchdowns earning the offensive player of the year earning first team all-league, second team all-section and all-state honors … he played in three games as a junior and split time on both the junior varsity and varsity teams as a sophomore.

Son of Gary and Tanya Phillips … majoring in business management … his uncle James Phillips played for the NFL's Chicago Bears and Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League and his uncle Larry Phillips played baseball for the Houston Astros … his cousin Saalim Hakim currently plays for the New Orleans Saints.
