Biography

As a Medical Redshirt in 2013
Was injured during offseason and took a medical redshirt.

As a Junior in 2012
Pitched in 12 games with 11 starts and earned second team all-MIAA...led the team with 65 strikeouts and his 2.79 ERA was the lowest among the Washburn starters...moved to sixth in Washburn history with 17 career wins, eighth with 148 strikeouts and 10th with a 3.59 career ERA...tied for the NCAA lead and set a school record with 10 complete games and moved to second in Washburn history with 20 career complete games...the season opener at Drury was the only game he started and did not finish...tied for the team lead in wins and went 7-4 on the year...finished his season with two straight complete-game wins against Emporia State...the first on May 4 was Washburn’s first in Emporia since 2002 and he gave up two runs on seven hits with six strikeouts...that win helped Washburn lock up fourth in the MIAA and WU played ESU in the MIAA tournament first round on May 10...he pitched that game and gave up one unearned run off seven hits through nine innings...was the game one starter in every series he pitched in...gave up more than two earned runs in a game just twice.

As a Sophomore in 2011
Tied for the team lead with 12 appearances and 11 starts…earned second team all-MIAA…led the Ichabods with seven wins and was second with a 3.99 ERA…pitched an 11-inning, six-hit victory against Pittsburg State on May 12…allowed two runs, one earned, and tied a career high with nine strikeouts as Washburn won in the bottom of the 11th inning…the 11 innings pitched is the most since single-game records were kept in 1999…he earned MIAA pitcher of the week after that performance…that win was the last of six straight victories that he pitched…he had a 2.81 ERA during that six-game winning streak…finished the year with six complete games…allowed just one home run in 76 2/3 innings pitched…his first win of the year was a four-hit, one-run victory at Truman on March 5…also tied his career high of nine strikeouts on March 11 against Southwest Baptist.

As a Freshman in 2010
Appeared in nine games making nine starts as a freshman...was third on the team with three wins and registered a 4.19 ERA...struck out 35 batters in 53 2/3 innings of work, including seven strikeouts against Truman on March 15...named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

Washburn Rural High School
A 2009 graduate of Washburn Rural High School...was named to the 2009 all-city baseball team as a senior...earned second team all-city and third team all-state honors in basketball as a senior as well.

Parents are Denise and Ted Ash...majoring in finance and marketing.
