In 2016-17: Set the school record in the heptathlon at the MSSU Invite during the indoor season with 4,181 points and the record in the decathalon in the outdoor season with 5,540 points set at the MIAA vs NSIC Showdown … won the high jump at the indoor MSSU Invite with a mark of 2.00m (6-06.75) … a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

Background: A four-year letterwinner in track and field and basketball … played football as a freshman … placed sixth at the Kansas State track meet in the high jump and was part of the seventh-place team in the 4x400 relay as a senior … in 2012-13 (freshman) took fourth at 4A regional and 10th at 4A state track meets in the 4x400 … as a sophomore finished seventh at 3A state meet in 400 meter dash and second in 4x400 relay … won high jump and 400 meter dash while taking second in the 4x400 meter relay at 3A region meet and was third in the 300 meter dash and fifth in the high jump at the AVCTL League track meet … in 2014-15 (junior) won 3A State Track Meet High Jump and finished third in the 400 meter dash and second in the 4x400 … also won the 3A region high jump and 400 meter dash as a repeat champion in both while his relay team won the 4x400 as well … ACTVL Division IV All-League Honorable Mention selection as a junior in basketball … his team won 2013-14 and 2014-15 region track meets and in 2014-15 his team was state track meet champs and took second at state basketball … as a senior was named All-League Second Team in basketball and All-Class 4A-Division II Honorable Mention … four-year honor roll member.

Personal: Son of Tod and Sherri Newlin … has two sisters, Ellie and Maggie who both compete at Friends University in Cross Country and Track and Field … majoring in physics.
