Before Washburn: Played two seasons at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas ... was a member of the Highlander squad that finished in second place in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference and advanced to the championship game of the Region V Tournament in 2019 ... earned back-to-back academic all-conference second team selections ... pitched 12 innings for the Highlanders, recording eight strikeouts and a 4.30 ERA in his freshman season ... made two appearances his sophomore season before the remainder of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

High School: Was a four-year member of the baseball team at Denton Braswell High School (Texas) ... as a senior, tossed 71 innings, recorded 122 strikeouts and finished with a minuscule 0.50 ERA ... in his junior season, he threw 62 innings and had 85 strikeouts for a 1.50 ERA ... was named District Pitcher of the Year and DRC All-Area Pitcher of the Year ... was an all-district and Dallas Morning News all-area selection ... academically, he received Academic all-State recognition as a senior and was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated with honors ... he also served as the student council treasurer as a junior.

Personal: Son of Robbie and Jennifer Bennett ... has one brother, Nicholas ... majoring in business management.
