At Washburn: Has passed for 6,825 yards at Washburn throwing for 63 touchdowns which are third and second in program history… ranks first in career completion percentage at Washburn (63.8 percent), in passing efficiency, second in passing yards per game (220.2), in touchdowns and in passing completions … a six-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll member and placed on the MIAA Scholar Athlete list… earned All-MIAA First Team ... graduated in spring of 2020 with bachelor’s degree in education and has started a master’s program in communication and leadership at Washburn.

In 2021: Started 11 games as Washburn's quarterback ... broke his own completion percentage record at 66.3 percent completing 191 of 288 passes for a career season-high 2,602 yards and 25 touchdowns ... he threw the most completions and attempts in a single game in Washburn history going 34 of 54 for 410 yards at Emporia State ... won MIAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week and earned First Team All-MIAA ... named to MIAA Scholar Athlete list and placed on the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

In 2020: Season canceled because of COVID-19 ... named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

In 2019: Set the Ichabod single-season completion percentage record at 66.1 percent completing 187 of 283 passes for 2,319 yards and 21 touchdowns … completion percentage was seventh in the nation … averaged 231.9 yards per game passing … earned honorable mention all-MIAA honors … passed for a career-high 27 completions against Missouri Southern … threw for three touchdowns in four different games … had a season-high 314 passing yards in season finale against Nebraska-Kearney completing 20 of 23 passing attempts (including a string of 12 straight) en route to MIAA Offensive Player of the Week honors … a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll member.

In 2018: Made seven starts appearing in nine games completing 141 of 242 passes with 17 touchdowns and 1,904 yards … averaged 211.6 yards per game passing … his 58.3 passing completion percentage is fourth on the Ichabod single season chart … passed for a season-high 397 yards against Emporia State and tossed four touchdown passes in a single game three times … had 404 total yards of offense against Emporia State ranking seventh on the Washburn single game chart … a two-time Ichabod offensive skill player of the week … a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.  

In 2017: Appeared in the final offensive series of the Heart of Texas bowl game taking the final snaps of the game and at Pittsburg State … a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

In 2016: Sat out the season as a redshirt … named Ichabod work team player of the week prior to the Pittsburg State game … a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

Background: His senior season earned All-City and All-Centennial League Honorable Mention honors … threw for 809 total yards as a senior … was a captain of the football team as a senior … two-time letterwinner in football and basketball … National Honor Society member.

Personal: Son of Craig and Louisa Schurig … has one sister, Samantha, who was a swimmer at the University of Kansas … his father, Craig, is the head football coach at Washburn … younger brother Michael is a redshirt freshman on the Ichabod baseball team.
