Biography

As a Junior in 2007
Played in 142 sets and all 42 matches with 40 starts as a junior middle hitter … she earned all-MIAA honorable mention for the first time in her career … she led the Lady Blues and was fifth in the MIAA with 1.25 blocks per set … finished the year with 25 solo blocks and 152 assisted blocks for 177 total blocks … her block total and assisted block total led the team … she had a .299 attack percentage, third best on the team and eighth best in the MIAA … she totalled 10 blocks in a match twice to tie for the fourth highest totals in school history, reaching that total on 09/26/07 against Emporia State and on 10/26/07 at Pittsburg State … she had double-doubles those two days as well … finished the year with 12 double-figure kill matches and 15 matches with five or more blocks … she had three matches with at least a .500 attack percentage with a season-high .632 mark on 11/06/07 against Missouri Western when she had 13 kills in 19 tries with one error.

As a Sophomore in 2006
Played in 86 sets and 30 matches with 24 starts as a sophomore middle hitter … totalled 190 kills and 2.21 per set … finished second on the team with 82 blocks and was first with 0.95 per set … had five double-figure kill matches and four matches in which she blocked five or more shots … had a career-high nine blocks against Abilene Christian on 09/01/06 … had 17 kills on 09/09/06 against Nebraska-Omaha for a career-high … had a career-high .636 attack percentage on 10/21/06 at Missouri Southern with 15 kills and one error in 22 attempts.

As a Freshman in 2005
Played in 24 matches and 32 sets … finished the year with 11 kills, seven digs and five blocks … had one of her best matches against Benedictine on 10/27/05 when she had season-highs of four kills, four digs, eight attacks and a .250 attack percentage.

Moline High School
Nitz was named Quad Cities player of the year for Moline High School with a school-record 277 kills, 68 blocks, 157 digs and 47 service aces … a two-time first team all-conference and all-region selection, leading Moline to three conference titles and two regional titles in her three seasons … Moline won 95 matches during the last three seasons and advanced to the Class AA quarterfinal her senior season.

Her sister Melinda played volleyball at Blackhawk College.
