Junior goalkeeper Jenny Persons was named the MIAA's defensive player of the week as she shut out Central Missouri in her only appearance last week.
Persons posted a 1-0 win over the Jennies, as WU blanked Central Missouri Saturday night in Yager Stadium.
She made three saves on four shots, none likely bigger than the one made just 21 seconds after the Lady Blues had secured the lead in the 82nd minute.
This season, Persons is 3-3-3 in goal for the Lady Blues with two shutouts and a 1.14 goal against average.

Senior defensive tackle Eric Butler led the Ichabods with 1.5 sacks and 1.5 tackles for loss in Washburn's 71-35 win over the Bulldogs on Homecoming.
He finished with 3 solo tackles and 2 assisted tackles. He also scored two rushing touchdowns in the Ichabods’ big-back package at fullback, scoring on 1-yard plunges. The first put WU up 21-7 with 14:45 left to play in the 2nd quarter and the second rushing TD put Washburn up 57-22 with 9:09 left in the third quarter. He added a pass break up as well.
