Before Washburn: Was a two-year member of the Northeast Community College baseball team in Norfolk, Neb. ... in his freshman season, he hit .344 and also pitched for the Hawks ... as a sophomore, was an every day starter and helped the Hawks to a record of 37-19 with a conference title and placed fourth at the DII Junior College World Series in just their second year as a program ... he finished with a career batting average of .280.
