Eric Cheray

A native of Topeka, Kan., Cheray joined the Ichabods in August 2018 after a successful collegiate career at Missouri State where he played from 2012-15. The 2021 season will mark his third on the Washburn coaching staff.

During that time, he appeared in 199 games for the Bears and finished his career batting .303 with 84 RBI and 41 of 108 hits going for extra base hits. At the start of the 2018 season, his 129 walks was third-best in program history, while his 473 assists were eighth-overall.
 
He helped MSU to a pair of trips to the NCAA World Series regionals and an appearance in the Fayetteville NCAA Super Regional in 2015. With each regional bid, Cheray was among those named to the all-tournament team.

A 17th round pick in the 2014 MLB Draft by the Oakland Athletics, Cheray returned to Missouri State for his senior season helping the Bears claim Missouri Valley Conference regular-season and tournament titles, while posting a 49-12 record.
 
A graduate from Missouri State in 2015 with a degree in psychology, Cheray previous attended Seaman High School and helped the team to a 70-5 record during his first three seasons cumulating with consecutive Kansas 5A state titles.
