Eric Hinostroza is entering his first season as a graduate assistant coach for Washburn in 2022 after playing two seasons with the Ichabods.
In 2021, Hinostroza was an all-MIAA Honorable Mention utility player and Gold Glove winner at first base after playing in 39 games making 38 starts. He hit .268 on the year and recorded 41 hits, including seven doubles and one homer. He also scored 24 runs and drove in 17.
In the COVID-shortened 2020 season, he started all 22 games the Ichabods played and finished with a .274 batting average while leading the team in runs (17) and tied for a the most hits (23). He was also second in steals (six) and fifth in RBI (12) to go with eight multi-hit games.
Prior to joining Washburn, he played two seasons at Kansas City Kansas Community College. As a sophomore, he led the Blue Devils in batting average with a .359 mark and also had the second-most hits on the team with 66. He recorded 18 extra base hits, including a home run and finished with a .439 on base percentage and a .484 slugging percentage.
Hinostroza and his wife, Emily, have two children. He is majoring in forensic investigations.
