Kenny Swart

Kenny Swart is in his second season as an assistant coach at Washburn.  He will work primarily with infielders and coach first base.  Swart returned to Washburn in 2015 after playing with the team and earning a bachelor's degree in 2003.

Swart worked with two all-MIAA infielders last season, Kyle Carnahan and Riley Krane.

Swart was the head coach at Rossville High School last year and before that he spent seven years as an assistant baseball and football coach at Topeka West High School. He went 19-4 in 2014 at Rossville and was mid-East League co-champion. Swart is also the head coach and co-founder of Midwest Bruins Baseball, a high school level summer league team.

Swart has been active coaching baseball on the high school and summer league levels in Kansas since graduating from Washburn in 2003 with a bachelor’s of education degree. He batted .313 in 48 at-bats in 2003 and started 29 games, mostly as a designated hitter. He played at Missouri Western in 2000 and at Independence Community College in 1999. He originally signed with Emporia State and played there in 1998.

Swart earned an associate’s degree from Independence in 1999 and a master’s of adaptive special education from Emporia State in 2006.

He lives in Topeka with daughter Addison and son, Kannon. He’s a 1998 Topeka West HS graduate.
