Kyle Frets

    Assistant Baseball Coach
Kyle Frets begins his first season as an assistant coach at Washburn in 2012. He joins the Ichabods after playing three seasons of independent league baseball.

Frets played collegiality at Johnson County Community College from 2006 to 2007 and then went on to Texas-Permian Basin the next two years. As he senior he earned second team all-Heartland Conference  and he helped the team to a league title and trip to the NCAA tournament. He went 6-0 on the mound with a 3.69 ERA and four complete games.

After completing his college career, Frets has played professional baseball with the Sioux City Explorers (American Association) in 2009, the Wichita Wingnuts (American Association) and Macon Pinetoppers (Peach State League) in 2010, and most recently with the Lake County Fielders (North American League) in 2011.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in social sciences from Kansas State in 2011.  He was born in Kansas City, Mo., and graduated from Blue Valley North High School in Overland Park, Kan., in 2005.
